The Atacama Desert is a desert plateau in South America covering a 1,000-km strip of land on the Pacific coast, west of the Andes mountains. The Atacama desert is one of the driest places in the world, as well as the only true desert to receive less precipitation than the polar deserts. The Andes, running along South America’s western side, is among the world’s longest mountain ranges. Its varied terrain encompasses glaciers, volcanoes, grassland, desert, lakes and forest. The mountains shelter pre-Colombian archaeological sites and wildlife including chinchillas and condors. From Venezuela in the north, the range passes through Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile.
Your Chile Unclimbed Peaks Expedition combines both of the above, the Atacama Desert and the Andes Mountains in a once in a lifetime opportunity to climb more than 1 Unclimbed Peak in the Atacama Desert of Chile. These peaks are extinct volcanoes and lie completely separate across the desert at altitudes of between 4,600m – 5,600m. Your expedition involves attempting to complete 2 or 3 x first ascents on 2 or 3 of these previously unclimbed volcanoes. We will use 4×4 transport to reach as close as possible before trekking in to make out base camp and then explore the route up these volcanoes. A real exploratory expedition.
A truly memorable adventure of a lifetime.
